💡 At a Glance

Coram EMS is a mobile-first, fully configurable emergency management system designed to help you broadcast emergency alerts and coordinate in real time.

It includes features like Drill Mode, persistent emergency banners, and granular user permissions to ensure only relevant users can see and respond to emergency activity.

Coram EMS is designed to align with the I Love U Guys Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol: Evacuate, Lockdown, Secure, Shelter, and Hold.

For detailed information keep reading below.

Overview

Coram EMS is designed to give you fast, clear, mobile-first control during emergencies. Whether you’re managing an active shooter threat, a fire, or a medical incident, the system allows you to:

  • Configure emergency types

  • Report emergencies instantly

  • Coordinate securely in a dedicated incident chat

  • Trigger instant alerts through email, SMS, and critical push notifications

  • Restrict and customize emergency permissions by role

Notes:

  • Coram EMS is licensed per seat. Only users assigned an Emergencies role can access EMS or see related emergency banners. To learn more, refer to Settings: Users.

  • When you first gain access to EMS, no users have permission to trigger or respond to emergencies. You’ll need to configure access for each emergency type in the Configure section.

By default, Coram EMS includes five emergency types aligned with the I Love U Guys Standard Response Protocol:

  • Evacuate

  • Lockdown

  • Secure

  • Shelter

  • Hold

Active Emergency Banner

When a real emergency is live in your organization, a red banner appears across all pages in the Coram web and mobile apps for all users with EMS access (regardless of their specific permissions or roles for that emergency).

Note: The active emergency banner overrides any Drill Mode banners.

Drill Mode

Drill Mode lets you test emergency workflows without sending real alerts. It enables you to schedule specific periods (minimum 30 minutes) for any location, during which time any emergencies for that location are broadcast in Drill Mode only.

When a location is set to Drill Mode, and an emergency is broadcast for that location:

  • A persistent orange Drill Mode banner appears across all pages in the Coram web and mobile apps for all users with EMS access (regardless of their specific permissions or roles for that emergency).

  • Emergency activity is clearly marked as part of a drill, with a "(DRILL)" tag.

To learn more, refer to Drill Mode in Coram EMS.
