Overview

Push notifications are instant alerts that appear on your mobile device. They allow Coram to provide point-of-need details about monitored activities captured by your cameras, ensuring you never miss important information. By allowing push notifications for the Coram mobile app, you can respond promptly to incidents on-the-go, without constantly checking your email or text inbox.

Enabling and Managing Push Notifications

The Coram mobile app sends push notifications to your device’s lock screen and notification center (depending on your phone’s OS and settings). Notifications may also appear as banners or alerts at the top of your screen.

Before you are able to receive push notifications, you must complete the following configuration steps:

1 - Grant Permissions in the Coram Mobile App

When you launch and log in to the Coram mobile app for the first time, a prompt asks you to allow notifications. Choose Allow to proceed.

Tip: If you initially declined the prompt, you can still allow permissions through the Coram mobile app's Settings menu, which directs you to appropriate page in your mobile device's native Settings menu.

For device-specific guidance, consult the manufacturer’s documentation.

2 - Configure Notification Groups

Push notifications are linked to the email address associated with your Coram user account. You must add this email address to the relevant notification group in the Coram web app. Once that notification group is assigned to an alert, push notifications are sent to your mobile device, provided you have the app installed and are logged in with that same email address.

To learn more about creating and managing notification groups, refer to Notification Groups.

3 - Manage Alerts in Coram

When you create an alert in the Coram web app, you can choose which notification groups you want to include for the alert, which defines who you notify. To learn more about creating and editing Alerts, refer to Introduction to Alerts.

Stopping Push Notifications

To prevent push notifications, you can either disable them for your mobile device only (meaning alerts are still sent as emails and/or SMS messages), or remove your entry from the notification group to prevent all alert notifications, including email, SMS, and push notifications.

Disabling App Notifications on Your Mobile Device

If the you no longer want to receive push notifications but still want to receive SMS or email alerts, access Coram mobile app's Settings menu, which directs you to notification management page in your mobile device's native Settings menu.

Removing a User from a Notification Group

In the Coram web app, remove your entry from the relevant notification group. Once removed, you will not receive any notifications for any alerts that use that notification group.
