Overview
This article explains how to add network speakers to your Coram organization. Adding network speakers enables you to use Audio Alerts in Coram.
Tip: To learn more about audio alerts, refer to Introduction to Audio Alerts.
You can add speakers to your organization in one of two ways:
Automatic speaker detection: Available when your Coram Point and speakers are on the same network without a level-3 router in between.
Manual speaker setup: For more advanced or segmented networks. Requires IP addresses, credentials, and RTSP port details.
After you add speakers, you can assign them to specific alerts and associate them with specific cameras, to determine when the speaker should broadcast an audio message.
Adding Speakers Automatically to your Organization
Coram Point is configured to scan your network automatically to discover new network speakers, which you can then easily add to your account.
Note: Automatic scanning generally works when your speakers are connected to the same network switch as your Coram Point, and when there is no level-3 router connected in between your Coram Point and the speakers you want to detect.
Before you begin, ensure the following:
You have admin rights for your organization in Coram. For support, contact your system administrator.
You have connected your Coram Point and any network speakers you want to add. To learn more, refer to Setting Up Coram Point.
You have registered your Coram Point. To learn more, refer to Registering Coram Point.
You have the credentials for the speakers you want to connect.
To add speakers to your organization using automatic detection:
Access the Coram web app and sign in to your account.
From the main navigation menu, click Devices.
In the top-right corner of the page, click + Add Camera.
The Add New Cameras page appears, and the Discovered Cameras tab is selected.
From the Location dropdown menu, select the physical location where your speakers are installed.
All connected network speakers in the selected location are discovered automatically.
Do one of the following:
If each speaker has a unique username or password, type the username and password for each camera.
If any speakers use the same username and password, click the corresponding checkbox. Then click Assign Common Credentials, type the common username and password, and click Apply.
Select the speakers that you want to connect, then click Add.
The speakers are added to your organization and you can access them immediately.
IMPORTANT: The number of speakers and cameras you can connect is a combined number, based on the number of camera feed licenses that you choose during your contract agreement with Coram. To manage your licenses, contact your Coram sales representative. To learn more, refer to Settings: Licenses.
Adding Speakers Manually to your Organization
If you have a more advanced setup, or if automatic scanning does not work, you can add speakers manually, as long as you have their IP addresses, credentials, and RTSP port details. This process is useful if your speakers are behind separate network switches or level-3 routers.
