Updated this week

Overview

Coram supports audio streaming and recording for compatible cameras, but issues can arise due to incompatible audio codecs or improper configurations. This guide explains how to ensure your audio is working, what settings are compatible, and how to troubleshoot common problems.

Troubleshooting Audio Issues

Before You Begin

Before you can identify and fix audio codec issues, ensure the following:

  • The camera you are troubleshooting has a microphone and audio recording capabilities, and is configured to capture audio. For more information, refer to the documentation provided by the camera manufacturer.

  • The device you are using to view the live feed or recorded video has audio playback capabilities.

  • Audio recording is enabled for your organization in the Coram web app. To learn more, refer to Settings: Controls.

  • Audio is enabled for the camera in the Coram web app. To learn more, refer to Changing Camera Settings.

  • The video or live feed you want to view is unmuted. To unmute video playback, in the video player toolbar, click the unmute icon ().

1. Check Your Camera’s Audio Codec

Note: This section provides general guidance only. For detailed, step-by-step instructions, Coram recommends that you consult the manufacturer documentation provided with your camera.

  1. Access the camera’s web interface, and log in using admin credentials.

  2. Navigate to the Audio or Sound configuration section and identify the current audio codec settings. For example, G.711A or AAC.

  3. If required, change the setting to a codec that works with Coram. Use the table below to check compatibility.

  4. Save your changes and reboot the camera if prompted.
