Overview
Coram supports any pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera that complies with ONVIF standards, and provides native pan, tilt, and zoom controls in the Coram web app.
Coram uses the ONVIF protocol to automatically detect if a camera has PTZ capabilities.
Accessing PTZ Controls
When Coram recognizes that a PTZ camera is connected, interactive controls automatically become available from the camera's Timeline view.
Tip: There are three ways to access the Timeline view for a camera:
From the Cameras tab on the Devices page
From the Live View page
From the Personal Wall page
In each case, find the camera you want to access and click the corresponding image thumbnail. The Timeline view loads, and the live feed is shown by default.
To learn more about Timeline view, refer to Introduction to Timeline View.
To access PTZ controls:
Access the Timeline view for the camera you want to control.
Ensure that the camera is set to live mode. Below the video feed, check that the feed status indicator is grey and reads Live. If the status indicator is green and reads Go Live, click it:
โTo open PTZ controls, next to the video feed, click the PTZ () icon. The pan and tilt arrows and zoom buttons appear:
โTo zoom in on the center of the frame, click the plus (+) icon, then click the pan and tilt arrows to move the center of the frame.
PTZ auto-tracking for Coram-Branded Cameras
Coram-branded PTZ cameras come with an auto-tracking feature that follows moving people and vehicles until they exit the camera's field of view. Once tracking is complete, the camera returns to its home position. PTZ auto-tracking for Coram AI cameras can be enabled in the camera settings.
Troubleshooting: PTZ controls are not available for a PTZ camera
Ensure that the camera has loaded correctly and that the live video feed is playing. PTZ controls are not available if the live video feed is not playing.
Check that Coram has detected the ONVIF profile for the camera. If Coram cannot automatically detect the ONVIF profile for the camera, it reverts to the default RTSP video streaming profile, and PTZ controls are not available.
You can check if Coram has detected the camera's ONVIF profile by going to the camera settings and checking the ONVIF icon, which is located next to the RTSP URL. If the ONVIF icon is not highlighted green, the ONVIF detection was unsuccessful and PTZ controls are not available.
