The Latest Updates from Coram

January introduces a major shift in how you interact with Coram. With the launch of Coram Assistant, investigations move from manual workflows to natural conversation. You can now type or speak plain-English questions across cameras, alerts, people, access events, and video, and get direct answers in seconds.

Alongside Coram Assistant, this release delivers meaningful improvements across access control alerting, AI-generated alert context, face recognition accuracy, video streaming performance, and platform extensibility through Coram APIs.

Together, these updates reduce investigation effort, improve response speed, and make it easier to understand what’s happening across your environment — without adding complexity.

"How Can I Help You?": Introducing Coram Assistant

Ask questions naturally, by typing or speaking, and get direct answers.

Coram Assistant is an innovative system-wide investigation interface that lets you type or speak plain-English questions across cameras, alerts, people, access events, and video. Instead of manually filtering timelines or stitching together footage, you can now interact with Coram the same way you’d ask an expert for help.

Ask questions like:

  • “When did Camera 57 last go offline?”

  • “Show me recent alerts at the Main Campus Office.”

  • “Which locations did Superintendent Oliver visit this week?”

  • “Show this week's access history for Side Door 2.”

  • “Find red delivery trucks in the last 2 days.”

Coram Assistant then actively interprets intent and retrieves the most relevant results from across your system, returning clear answers in seconds, without rigid syntax or complex workflows. The result is faster investigations, dramatically less manual effort, and a more natural, conversational way to interact with Coram.

More Release Highlights

Coram APIs

Securely connect Coram to your tools, systems, and workflows.

Coram now provides APIs that allow developers and integration partners to securely access data from your Coram environment.

API access is managed directly in the Coram web app, where you can generate, manage, and revoke API keys. These keys can then be used to connect Coram with reporting tools, internal systems, or custom workflows. All technical implementation details and endpoint documentation live in Coram’s developer documentation. This enables deeper integrations, automated reporting, and custom workflows, without manual exports or fragile workarounds.

Access Control Alerts

Monitor door behavior, unauthorized access, and controller health in real time.

Coram now supports a full set of Access Control alerts, allowing organizations to detect, monitor, and respond to abnormal door activity and controller issues as they happen.

You can now create alerts for:

  • Door Held Open: When a door remains open longer than a configured threshold

  • Door Forced Open: Unauthorized entry without a valid unlock signal

  • Tamper Events: REX or Door Position Indicator (DPI) tampering

  • Controller Status: Power loss, backup battery usage, and cover open

These alerts integrate directly into the Coram Alerts workflow, giving security and operations teams immediate visibility into access misuse, door integrity issues, and infrastructure problems, without relying on separate access control tools. This unlocks earlier detection of access-related risk, faster response to unauthorized entry or system issues, and a unified alerting experience across video and access control.

AI-Generated Alert Descriptions

Alerts can now include an AI-generated description at the moment an alert is created, giving you immediate context on what the system detected, without needing to open video first. This enables faster triage and less manual effort to interpret alert feeds at a glance.

Improved Face Recognition Accuracy

Face recognition algorithms have been significantly improved to reduce false positives and missed detections, resulting in even more reliable identification results, even fewer noisy matches, and even greater confidence when reviewing people and profiles.

Faster, Lower-Latency Video Streaming

Live and historical video streams now load faster and play with lower latency across the platform. This means quicker access to footage during investigations and live response, with less waiting and fewer interruptions.

Firearm Detection Enhancements

Firearm detection has been improved with lower alert latency and higher recall.

So you get faster alerts with improved detection coverage, helping teams respond sooner and with greater confidence.

New Capabilities & Improvements

Multiple Premium Alerts

You are no longer limited to a single alert per premium alert type. You can now create and enable multiple firearm detection, slip and fall, and PPE alerts at the same time, each with its own configuration. This enables more flexible coverage across different cameras, zones, schedules, and notification recipients, without needing to compromise or reuse a single alert setup.

Video, Timeline, and Search

  • Faster Timeline search with Region of Interest filtering
Timeline searches now return results more quickly when Region of Interest filters are applied, reducing wait times when narrowing investigations to specific zones within a camera’s view.

  • Improved Journey path UX/UI
Journey paths have been refined for clearer visual flow and quicker visual interpretation, making it easier to compile accurate journey paths.

  • Improved First & Last Seen report layout
The First & Last Seen view has been refined for better readability and quicker scanning, helping teams understand presence and movement history at a glance.

Cameras, Streaming, and Setup

  • PTZ 'Set Home' and 'Return to Home' controls on web and mobile
PTZ cameras now support setting a default home position and returning to it at any time, ensuring consistent coverage after manual movement or tracking.

  • Move cameras between NVRs across subnets
Cameras can now be reassigned to an NVR on a different subnet, with built-in connectivity checks to validate network reachability during setup.

  • Access controller IP visibility in the UI
The IP address of each access controller is now visible directly in the Coram interface, making troubleshooting and network management faster for IT and integrators.

Integrations and Platform

  • Slack-compatible webhooks
Coram webhooks can now be sent directly to Slack, making it easier to route alerts and system events into existing team communication workflows.

  • Expanded Clever integration support
Staff support has been added for Clever integrations, improving roster accuracy and role alignment for education environments using Clever as a source of truth.

Mobile Improvements

  • Prevented unexpected mobile app logouts
Improved session handling reduces unplanned logouts, keeping users signed in during active monitoring and response.

  • Fixed video control touch interactions
Video playback controls now respond more reliably to touch input, improving scrubbing and playback on mobile devices.

  • Improved push notification thumbnails
Push notifications now display clearer, higher-quality image previews for faster visual context.

  • Smoother navigation between organizations
Switching between multiple organizations in the mobile app is now faster and more predictable, reducing friction for users managing multiple sites.

Fixes and Reliability

  • Fixed live video occasionally jumping and timing out too frequently

  • Fixed inconsistent behavior of the Journey “Play All” button

  • Fixed alerts feed not auto-refreshing on the dashboard

  • Fixed greyed-out Download and Capture Frame icons on Timeline

  • Fixed duplicated timeslots when copying schedules

  • License plate detection headers are now consistent with face detection
