Creating and Managing Lockdowns

Updated this week

Overview

Lockdowns let you override normal door schedules in response to emergency situations. When a lockdown is active, selected doors no longer follow their usual schedules, and access is restricted to only those users explicitly permitted.

Important: Lockdowns are manual overrides. They must be activated and deactivated in the Coram web app.

How Lockdowns Work

There are two types of lockdowns:

Default Lockdowns

  • You select which doors are included.

  • Door schedules are overridden, and doors are locked, even during scheduled open hours.

  • Access Levels and Custom Access Periods still apply.

  • This is the fastest way to secure specific doors without disrupting user-level access rules.

Custom Lockdowns

  • You select both doors and users.

  • Door schedules are overridden for the selected doors.

  • Selected users are granted full access to those doors for the duration of the lockdown.

  • All other users are denied access, regardless of Access Levels or other policies.

Example Scenarios

  • Default Lockdown: Lock all external doors at a school campus, while still allowing staff with existing permissions to enter.

  • Custom Lockdown: Lock all interior doors and grant access only to emergency response staff.

Creating and Managing Lockdowns

To create a lockdown:

  1. Access the Coram web app and log in to your account.

  2. In main navigation menu, click the Coram logo. Click Access Control, then go to Doors.

  3. At the top of the page, seect the Lockdowns tab, then click Create Lockdown.

  4. Give the lockdown a clear name that describes its intended function.

  5. Select the Lockdown type:

    • Default – Select doors to include.

    • Custom – Select doors and users.

  6. Choose the doors to include in the lockdown.

  7. If you chose the custom Lockdown type, add the users who should have access to the selected doors.

  8. To save the lockdown, click Create.

Important: Lockdowns that you create are not active by default — you must activate them manually from the main Lockdowns page.
