Step-by-step instructions for setting up Reolink, Ava cloud-native, and Lorex cameras.

Updated this week

Overview

Different camera brands require specific configurations to work optimally with Coram Point.

Enabling ONVIF for Reolink Cameras

Note: Performing these steps in order is crucial to avoid port conflicts.

To enable ONVIF for Reolink cameras:

  1. pen a web browser and enter the camera's IP address to access its web interface.

  2. Navigate to Network Settings or Port Settings (this may vary across Reolink models).

  3. Change the HTTP Port from 80 to 90 (or any other port that is not 80), then click Save.

  4. Locate the options to Enable ONVIF and Enable RTSP within the settings, and activate both options.

  5. Change the ONVIF Port to 80, then click Save.

Enabling ONVIF for Ava Cloud-Native Cameras

Before you begin, make sure you are on the same LAN as the camera you want to configure.

Note: During this process, you are prompted to set up a new password. Keep a note of this password, as yol need it for RTSP streaming.

To enable ONVIF for Ava Cloud-Native cameras:

  1. Enter the camera's IP address in your web browser.

  2. Use the camera credentials from the Ava Cloud dashboard for that specific camera.

  3. Select the option to convert the camera to ONVIF mode.
You can revert the camera back to Ava Alta mode later if required.

  4. Use "onvifadmin" as the username and the new password you set in step 3 for RTSP streaming.

Do not use "admin" as the username for RTSP streaming.

Configuring Lorex Cameras

Although ONVIF is enabled for Lorex cameras, for optimal performance with Coram Point, it's recommended to adjust certain camera settings, including the frame rate, video code, and resolution.

Notes:

  • Higher resolutions and frame rates consume more storage. Adjust settings based on your storage capacity.

  • Ensure your network can handle the bandwidth required for higher-quality streams.

To configure Lorex cameras:

  1. Use the Lorex web interface or mobile app to access your camera settings.

  2. Find the section for video or stream settings.

  3. Adjust the following settings:

    • Set the frame rate to 15 FPS.

    • Set the video codec to H.265.

    • Set the resolution to 5MP.

  4. Click Save or Apply to confirm the new settings.

Note: Refer to your Lorex camera's user manual for detailed instructions, as the interface may vary between models.
