🔎 At a Glance

if you're locked out, experiencing connection issues, or preparing a Coram camera for a new deployment, you may need to reset the device to factory settings. Performing a factory reset restores all default settings, including network, image, and user configurations.

Overview

You may need to reset your Coram camera to factory settings if any of the following are true:

  • You've forgotten the username or password

  • You're unable to connect the camera to your network

  • You're troubleshooting unusual camera behavior

This article walks you through performing a full factory reset, which restores all settings to their original defaults.

IMPORTANT: Resetting your camera will erase all settings including Wi-Fi configurations, custom image settings, and saved user accounts.

Resetting a Camera through the Web Interface

If you know the camera's IP address and login credentials, you can perform a soft through the camera's native web interface. This fixes many common issues.

  1. To access the camera's web interface:

    1. Sign in to the Coram web app.

    2. Go to Devices and locate the camera you want to reset.

    3. Click the corresponding Settings button.

    4. At the bottom of the settings window, click Open Camera.
The camera's native web interface login page opens in a new tab.

  2. Type the camera's credentials, then click Log In.

  3. Navigate to Setup > System > Maintenance > Config Management.

  4. Click Restore or Restore Factory Defaults.

  5. To optionally perform a full factory reset, select Restore all settings without keeping current network and user settings.

Note: After you reset the camera, you need to reconnect it to your network and add it back to your Coram organization.

Performing a Hard Reset

If you don't know the camera's IP address or login credentials, or a soft reset doesn't resolve the problem, perform a hard reset by completing the following steps:

  1. Locate the reset button.

  2. Identify the reset method.

  3. Power on the camera.

  4. Press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds.

  5. Release the reset button and wait for the device to reset.

A detailed breakdown of these steps is provided below.

Step 1 - Locate the Reset Button

If the reset button isn't immediately visible, it is likely hidden beneath a cover, or within the main camera housing. To find the reset button, do the following:

  1. Inspect the exterior of the device for visible buttons, especially the underside and rear panels. The reset button is not always labeled.

  2. If no button is visible, check under any removable covers, particularly the MicroSD card cover. Sometimes the reset button is covered a sticker.

  3. If there are no visible reset buttons on the exterior of the device, the reset button is within the main camera housing.

Step 2 - Identify the Reset Button Type

Protruding Button

  • Generally found on the back of bullet and PTZ camera models (button not always labelled)

  • Can be pressed by hand.

Recessed Button

  • Generally found on the back or underside of some bullet, turret, and dome camera models, or underneath the MicroSD card cover on most fisheye camera models (button not always labeled).

  • Can be pressed using an unwound paperclip or other small, pointed tool.

Tactile reset switch (within camera housing)

  • Found on the main PCB of some dome camera models.

  • To find the tactile reset switch, use an allen wrench or torx driver to remove the screws holding the main dome housing in place, then lift off the housing.

  • Can be pressed by hand.

IMPORTANT:

  • The device internals are very fragile. Take extra care not to damage any internal parts during this process. If you are unsure about disassembling your camera, stop, and contact Coram support.

  • In rare cases, some dome camera models are missing the internal reset button, and instead have a reset footprint printed on the main PCB. If your device is missing a reset button, do not attempt to hard-reset the device. Instead, stop, and contact Coram support.

Step 3 - Power on the Camera

After you have located the reset button, identified the reset method, and gathered the appropriate tools, connect the camera to a reliable power source.

Step 4 - Press and Hold the Reset Button for 15 Seconds

Within 10 minutes of powering on the camera, press the reset button for at least 15 seconds. During this time, the power or status LED may flash on or off.

Note: Releasing the reset button before 15 seconds may not reset the device, and can instead engage different modes.

Step 5 - Release the Reset Button and Wait for the Camera to Reset

After 15 seconds, release the reset button and wait for the camera to reset. During this time, various status LEDs may flash on or off.

Notes:

  • Make sure that the device stays connected to a reliable power source during this whole process.

  • After the camera resets and reboots, you need to reconnect it to your network and add it back to your Coram organization.
