Overview
This article explains the procedure for removing the covers and base plate from a CM-51 camera in order to access the camera's Ethernet port and connect an Ethernet cable through the body of the camera.
IMPORTANT:
Internal camera components are fragile. Handle with care.
Do not force any parts.
If something doesn’t move easily, double-check for screws or locks you may have missed.
Connecting an Ethernet Cable to a CM-51
Prerequisites
A firm, flat work surface.
A T10 torx screwdriver or equivalent tool.
A small phillips-head screwdriver.
An adjustable wrench
Procedure
Remove the IR cover.
Remove the dome cover:
Use a T10 torx screwdriver to remove eight screws.

Rotate the cover counter-clockwise until the red arrows are aligned, then lift off the cover.

Note: There is a small retaining cable that connects the main body to the cover. This can be left in place.

Remove the base plate from the main body:
Use a phillips-head screwdriver to loosen but not remove two screws.

Press and hold the base plate release button and rotate the main body of the camera counter-clockwise, then lift the main body off the base plate.

Connect the Ethernet cable:
Unscrew the compression nut and remove the waterproof rubber gasket and plastic compression ring.

Thread the Ethernet cable through the hole where the rubber gasket was situated.
Attach the rubber gasket and compression ring to the Ethernet cable, and refit into the hole.
Place the compression nut over the Ethernet cable, and connect the cable to the camera's Ethernet port.
Use an adjustable wrench to carefully tighten the compression nut in place, taking care not to overtighten the nut.
Reassemble the camera:
Place the main body back onto the base plate, aligning the red triangle on the main body with the recessed triangle on the base plate. Rotate the body of the camera clockwise until you hear a click.
re-tighten the two phillips-head screws.
Place the dome cover over the main body, aligning the red triangles, then rotate the dome cover clockwise.
Refit the eight T10 torx screws.
Refit the IR cover.
